Standby Skipper/Host Guide
1. Your Role as Standby
You’ve been assigned as a Standby Skipper/Host — this means you’re ready to step in if a skipper/host can’t fulfill their assignment. This can can be related to:
- Illness or injury
- Family emergencies
- Any other serious issue affecting guest safety or experience
- Travel related issue
The decision to activate a standby rests solely with the QD office team.
Standby roles are for serious situations only — you won’t be called in unless it’s absolutely necessary. When that happens be ready.
2. What to Expect
You’ll be on call 24/7 during your standby week and may be asked to step in at any time, and on short notice. If you’re called to work, you’ll be paid based on the number of days worked.
3. Accommodation Rules
- Check-in: Saturday at 12:30
- Check-out: Friday by 11:00
- Leave it better than you found it. Report any issues in the support whatsapp group.
- No partying.
- No personal guests.
- Before you leave: Strip the sheets and towels & Take out the trash
- Our Code of Excellence still applies — professionalism at all times.

*You will be paid for the days you are activated based on your normal pay rate (weekly rate ÷ 7).
Typically food left on yachts can be retrieved and stored in the standby apartment. This will give you a basic supply with unlikely any fresh food available.
5. Accommodation Details

Key in LOCK BOX on the outside wall. Code: 1950
You’ll stay in a shared bedroom in an apartment located on the 4th Floor. Name on door: PUSIC
Please follow the linen procedure. In the closet right next to the entrance, there are clearly marked sets of bed linen and towels. Take and make your bed. After your stay is over, put your bed linen in the bag that is also in the closet. Thank you!
